What are blogs? Blogs are the online diaries created by individuals or groups of people and stored on the internet so as to share their staffs. They normally consist of text and images and appear in order of the date published with the most recent first. Blogs can be personal and private, be viewed by members of the public or select groups of people such as friends or other interest groups.
The most interesting is that, blogs used to support learning? Blogs are really easy to create and publish. They allow pupils to reflect on their work and their learning. This can be a highly motivating and engaging way to learn and a great way to interact with other pupils, teachers and parents. Blogs are becoming more popular with teachers and pupils for a number of reasons:
Pupils can reflect on their learning and receive and give feedback.
They encourage peer-group discussion and teach the skill of putting across and defending ideas and opinions with a real audience
They also allow teachers to engage with pupils, develop a topic and offer support and guidance. When used by the teacher it can explain a difficult or hard to understand concept that may have been missed in class. In responding the learner has the time to ask further questions.
